Black Health Matters Contact-A-Thon 2020

Black Health Matters is a collaborative effort by groups from Northeastern University which raised $35,000 for grassroots organizations dedicated to improving the health statuses of Black and LGBTQ+ communities led by Northeastern University Global Health Initiative (NUGHI) in partnership with Northeastern Black Students Association, Minority Association for Prehealth Students, Student Alliance for Prison Reform, American Medical Women’s Association, College of Science Student Diversity Advisory Council, Sisters in Solidarity, Northeastern African Student Organization, Black Engineering Student Society, and Fellowship and Manhood. We aim to achieve our goal by utilizing the wealth of Northeastern University, both financially and resource-wise, through a Contact-A-Thon of students, alumni, and members of the greater Northeastern community. The goal for this Contact-A-Thon was to raise awareness about the disproportionate health disparities that Black, LGBTQ+, and incarcerated peoples face in America. We have surpassed our goal and believe this is the first step in the right direction.
